David Doherty is a teacher, author and performer based in Brisbane and is delighted to be sharing the stage with his mum, Deborah, who is playing the flute, poorly.
Under the tutelage of Julian Byzantine and later Isolde Schaupp, David graduated from the Queensland Conservatorium in 2003, where he was awarded the Guitar Prize. Following this David travelled the world teaching and performing in Japan, Canada and the United States.
After returning to Australia, David began teaching and performing in Brisbane and is currently the director and head teacher of Brisbnae’s largest privately owned music school. Recently David’s energy has been put toward producing an education series for young guitarist’s, as well as delving into the psychology of early learning and development in post-graduate studies.
As a keen multi instrumentalist performer and composer in several contemporary and early music ensembles, David is excited to share the beauty of Rodgrigo’s guitar concerto
